To: Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer

Dear Chancellor,

We are writing collectively as politicians, educators, parents and those with an interest in our children’s education to urge you to prioritise funding for our schools in the coming Budget.

After 14 years of devastating cuts our schools have reached breaking point. We see the impacts of these cuts everyday: larger class sizes; burned out teachers; cuts to arts, sports and music and buildings falling apart around us.

While this isn’t a crisis of your Government’s making, it is one that urgently needs your attention.

Will you commit to restoring school funding to the same level left by the previous Labour Government in 2010?

The last Government’s neglect towards school funding is what led us here. We recognise that you cannot fix it overnight.

But at the Autumn Budget on October 30, we want you to show the country that you’re serious about reversing these cuts.

It is an opportunity to equip our educators with the resources they need to deliver the best possible education. It is a chance to rebuild trust with educators and show them that the government is on their side.

Yours sincerely,
