Ask your MP to save nursery schools
Unless the Government changes course, nursery schools face losing a third of their budget on average next year. That means severe cuts to the education and the services we provide to families. Under these conditions, many nursery schools will simply not be able to stay open.
There are 389 nursery schools left in England. The majority are located in the poorest parts of the country. For many children, these schools are their only opportunity for early education. If nursery schools are forced to close or cut provision, up to 40,000 children could be left without an early education place.
Even with the Government’s supplementary funding announcement for nursery schools in October last year, there is no long-term commitment to secure the survival of maintained nursery schools.
